Scottish Rate of Income Tax to be announced on 16th December

As well as 25th November being a key day for employers and particularly payroll professionals, all eyes will be north of the border on 16th December when John Swinney, Scottish Finance Minister, delivers the country’s budget and announces the Scottish Rate of Income Tax (SRIT). This is good news as it should give HMRC the time to issue P2s/P6s and resolve any disputes about Scottish residency ahead of the new tax year and the implementation of SRIT on 6th April, and for developers to be certain it is going ahead and get payroll software signed off.
