HMRC offers compensation for TFC glitches
In an unusual move, HMRC has launched a compensation facility for parents who have been financially impacted by the failure of the new tax-free childcare service managed by National Savings and Investment (NS&I).
The service went live on 28th April just ahead of the election and has been dogged with problems since. Parents have reported not being able to access funds to pay for childcare so have had to pay twice. The service is also used to register for the new 30 hours free childcare that is being introduced this autumn.
Compensation is applied for by post – perhaps old fashioned is best rather than an online compensation facility!
